Charity branch makes a splash

Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution sent £1413.23 to headquarters, with a further £6143.23 raised through souvenirs, it was reported at the annual meeting.

Officers elected for the coming year were: chairman, John Grubb; vice-chairman, John Heath; secretary, Peggy Grubb; treasurer, Muriel Haslam; 100 Club organiser, John Heath; Box secretary, Brian Dick; Souvenir secretary, Tony Dale; Minute secretary and events organiser, Mary Rhodes.

The branch committee was re-elected en bloc, with the exception of Margaret Shepherd, and an invitation for new members resulted in Enid Pullen volunteering to join the committee.

The AGM was held at the Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield, where special guest was James Vaughan, RNLI Director of Fundraising and Communication, who spoke about the closure of some regional offices but the introduction of additional fundraising managers and new regional cluster meetings for branches to get together and keep informed.
