A MARKETING company has shown community spirit and raised money for a hospice by auctioning off a place on their popular social media-marketing workshop.
Brighter Directions, who provide strategic marketing solutions to businesses across the UK, announced last month that they would auction off a place on their Introductory Social Media Workshop and that all funds would be donated to Chesterfield’s Ashgate Hospice.
The place on the course, which was worth £250, was won by Belper based adult lingerie company Loving Stuff, who beat off competition from other businesses after placing the highest bid.
As an extra gesture of goodwill, Brighter Directions also gave away a free place on their workshop to Ashgate Hospice to help them use their social media accounts to their full potential and generate positive results for the charity.
The workshop, which took place on January 26 at the Brighter Directions’ premises at Coney Green Business Centre in Clay Cross, provided the attending businesses with a hands-on training session and thorough understanding of how to use social media sites effectively.
Bidders who took part in the auction were asked to place their offers via Twitter or Facebook with a starting bid of £50.00.
Rebecca Littlewood of Ashgate Hospice, who attended the course, said: “On behalf of the Hospice, I would like to thank Brighter Directions for their generous support.
“The money raised will go towards the care of our patients and their families and what we have learnt from the social media workshop will allow us to spread the word about what we do.”
