Inner Wheel Club members were given an insight into a Derbyshire based charity which supports a woman caring for orphans in Kenya.

Lynda Gray, representing Popalong CHIKS which is based in Crich, was the guest speaker at a lunchtime meeting hosted by the Inner Wheel Club of Alfreton.

She told members how the charity raises money to support Irene Street from a village in West Kenya. Irene takes orphans into her own home to care for them.

Her daughter, Jael Odindo, who lives and works in the UK, is hoping to provide a home for these children.

Irene, who was on her first visit to the UK, was accompanied by Jael to the club’s meeting.
