Charge! Battle at the mill

SOLDIERS defended Cromford Mill against French invaders in a muster renactment.

Captain Peter Arkwright’s company of volunteers, the Georgian Home Guard, took action against Napolean Bonaparte’s troops on Saturday March 27.

A living history display – where visitors could listen to volunteers’ stories, see them pursue their normal occupation and try their hands at pike drill – also took place at the free event in Cromford.
