A Chapel-en-le-Frith man turns 100 today (Thursday), and cites not drinking a lot as the reason for his longevity.

Harold Cooke, of Park Road, will be celebrating the milestone with a slice of birthday cake and a glass of advocaat, accompanied by his son Barry, 70.

The centenarian, who worked as a haulage contractor, was born in Chinley and married his wife, Joyce, at the Church of St Thomas Beckett, Chapel, in 1938.
