The stories were shared with an audience at the Post Mill Centre, South Normanton, by Lesley Smith dressed as Queen Elizabeth I.

Lesley, the curator of Tutbury Castle for the last 13 years, was resplendent in authentic make-up and Tudor dress, which weighed 4st 3lb, was made by the Royal Shakespeare company and insured for £10,000.

The local history club displayed old photographs and artefacts.
