Casualties need hospital treatment after crash

FIREFIGHTERS rescued a trapped crash casualty after a collision between two cars.

The collision happened on Sheffield Road, Eckington, about 8.15am, on Thursday, August 11, between an Audi A1 Sport car and a Renault Clio.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “Crews freed one person and police and an ambulance were in attendance.”

Derbyshire Constabulary confirmed there was another casualty involved and both were taken to hospital for treatment but their injuries were not thought to be life threatening.

Officers were also forced to temporarily close the road as firefighters from Staveley and Mosborough made the area safe.
