Cash boost for initiatives to keep county residents warm

Initiatives aimed at keeping people warm and well this winter will receive a cash boost following a successful bid for Government funding.

Derbyshire County Council (DCC) has received just over £120,000 from the Department of Health’s Warm Homes Healthy People Fund to help support initiatives being run in partnership with a range of agencies.

The money will fund schemes ranging from winter information packs and winter warmth road shows to providing additional staff to carry out welfare benefits checks and expanding a domestic oil buying scheme.

Agencies involved in the schemes with DCC include district and borough councils, public health, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and community and voluntary organisations.
