Prior to the February meeting, council chairman Councillor Peter Smith presented cheques to the 3rd Codnor Scout Group, Derbyshire Special Constabulary, Beauchief Explorer Scouts and St John Ambulance.

The parish council decided to distribute the collection taken at the end of the annual Community Bonfire and Firework Display in the village held in November, which also included a donation from the fairground operator in recognition of the valuable contribution that each group made towards the popular event.

Councillor Smith thanked the organisations saying: “We greatly value all the help and support that these groups provide to make such a successful evening for everyone.

“We are very grateful to them for their expertise and contribution, may it continue for future years and I hope that these awards help in a small way to benefit their funds”.
