Wildlife and woodland hotspot Carr Wood has spruced up its pathways after a cash boost from a Ripley housing group.
Carr Wood has been given £370 to make it more enjoyable for the community by a Ripley-based housing association.
Futures Homescape, awarded the Friends of Carr Wood group the money to install new benches in the wood so that more people could take advantage of the area.
Chairman of the Friends of Carr Wood, Paul Dempsey said: “We wanted more people to take advantage of this beautiful area.
“The new benches will allow more people to come down with a picnic, enjoy the surroundings and relax.
“Carr Wood offers a respite for those with busy lives seeking some peace and quiet, and we want people to enjoy it.
“Thanks to Futures Homescape’s funding, we can offer that to anyone who comes here.”
The money for the new benches and pathways was awarded as part of the housing association’s Your Vote Your Choice Community Grant Scheme, which was set up to support clubs and groups around Derbyshire get hold of extra cash to help fund days out and pay for new materials and equipment.
The scheme has been running for more than 11 years, with over 100 groups and clubs having benefitted from the cash.
Friends of Carr Wood are looking for volunteers to help them continue to improve the area. Anyone interested should email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The next round of funding applications for the Your Vote Your Choice Community Grant Scheme opens later in the year. For more visit: www.futureshomescape.co.uk.
