HUNDREDS of you have got into the festive spirit and secured tickets for the Derbyshire Times’ first carol service – at Chesterfield’s landmark crooked spire church.

Despite increasing capacity due to demand, tickets have now all gone for the event, which will see more than 500 readers descend on the town centre for an evening of traditional Christmas cheer.

Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins and the Mayor of Chesterfield, Cllr Peter Barr will be among the guests at the service on December 8, which hopes to raise money for the upkeep of St Mary and All Saints’ Church and Fairplay, the Chesterfield-based charity which supports families with youngsters with special needs.

There will be one very special guest at the service – a Derbyshire Times child of courage to be nominated by you, our readers.

If you would like to nominate a boy or girl who deserves to be given pride of place at the event – and receive a special gift – then email comment@derbyshiretimes.co.uk with ‘Child of Courage’ in the subject heading or write to Child of Courage, The Editor, Derbyshire Times, Station Road, Chesterfield, S41 7XD.

The closing date for entries is Friday, November 18.
