Buxton youngster William Fletcher-Wells is on a mission.
The eight-year-old is hoping to raise £500 for the Meningitis Now charity after suffering from meningitis and septicaemia when he was a toddler.
William is holding a coffee morning and table top sale on March 1 at St Anne’s Parish Centre on Hardwick Square. Running from 10.30am to 2pm, the event will feature a tombola, face painting, and more. Admission is 50p for adults and free for children.
Then in April, William, of Milnbank Avenue, Fairfield, will climb Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons, alongside his dad.
Proud mum Melanie said: “William had meningitis when he was 18-months-old and we were really close to losing him. He decided that he wanted to do this because he wanted to raise money for the charity and raise awareness.
“He was in hospital for three weeks. It was the worst time you could ever imagine. We’re just really lucky that he’s recovered. He’s a little fighter.”
