A brave Buxton teenager has raised more than £1,000 for charity after having her head shaved.

Julia Roos, 17, took the plunge to raise money for Autoimmune Alopecia Research UK (AAR-UK) and Be Bold Alopecia Awareness. The Fairfield teen suffers from alopecia herself and wanted to raise money for more research into the condition.

She had her head shaved at Inspirations Hair Salon in Fairfield last Wednesday and in just over a week, her efforts netted £1,200 which will be split between the two charities. Donations can still be made at the Jam Taxis office on Buxton Market Place, at the Residents of Fairfield Association or online at http://www.bebold.org.uk/alopecia/index.php/fundraising or https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/juliaroos1.
