Buxton teenager Will Grindey has bagged himself a starring role in the new BBC drama The Village.
Will, 13, landed the role of Gilbert, best friend to main character Bert Middleton, after going through a series of auditions, having initially been put forward by teachers at Buxton Community School, where he is among a group of gifted and talented students.
And he impressed the team behind the show so much, despite not having any previous acting experience apart from school drama lessons, that he won the part in the show, which begins on Sunday.
Will’s mum Liz Grindey said: “We’re all really proud. It’s really exciting.”
Six other pupils at the school will also appear as extras in the show.
Sharon Rogers, head of drama at the school, added: “It’s a tribute to how hard they have worked.”
