Buxton social club gets £2k grant

A Buxton club for adults with learning difficulties has receive a cash boost of £2,000 from Co-operative members in the High Peak.

Bright Choice, which is based at Buxton Working Men’s Club on Lightwood Road, is a safe, supervised, social drop in for adults with learning difficulties every Saturday from 11am until 2pm run by Bright Opportunities.

It received the donation, which will go towards the costs of the sessions, from the Co-operative Membership Community Fund, which is distributed to support good causes.

Becky Cassin, 24, who uses the service, said: “I love coming to Bright Choice Saturday Club. Without funding we wouldn’t have it and I would have nothing to do at weekends. I enjoy meeting new friends at the club; it’s great!’’

Tracey Green, director of Bright Choice, said: “We are all delighted with the support from the Co-operative. It is a big boost to our fundraising efforts which enable us to continue to offer the services that we do.”
