Buxton Opera House and the Mayor of the High Peak, Buxton have thanked local businesses who helped fund a relaxed performance of the pantomime Aladdin.

For children on the autistic spectrum, people with learning disabilities and those who would find loud bangs and flashes alarming, sitting through a formal theatre show can be an impossible task. This year Buxton Opera House introduced a relaxed performance with a reduced script, adapted sound and lighting and a chill-out room to take breaks from the action. The event was a success with Christmas made extra special for people who would not normally enjoy one of the highlights of the season.
