James Wright and Stewart Welburn will set off from John O’Groats on July 8 before spending 12 days cycling to Land’s End.

Their efforts will raise money for Cancer Research UK, a cause close to both of their hearts.

James, 22, said: “I’ve always wanted to do something since my dad passed away from cancer in 2003.

“At the time I was quite young but I took up cycling last year and then decided to do this for Cancer Research UK which is a charity I wanted to support.

“Me and Stewart both took up cycling at the same time, mostly just to get a bit fitter and as we got into it more and more we decided to do something challenging and raise money for charity.

“I’ve got mixed feelings about it. I’m a bit excited but I’m also a bit nervous.”
