A FORMER student who clinched a work placement with world-renowned car manufacturers Aston Martin returned to Chesterfield College to share his experiences on the road to success.

Chris Shaw, of Chesterfield, went up against about 50 automotive designers during a competition to design an Aston Martin for 2025 and win the coveted placement.

He said: “I based my design around a biological, animal theme to create a feeling that you’re not starting a car but awakening a beast.”

The former college student earned a place at Coventry University which joined forces with Aston Martin to offer the work placement. He inspired college students during a presentation of his winning designs.
