BUDDING wedding planner businesses inspired by Prince William and Catherine Middleton’s Royal wedding are being offered a chance to hone their skills by signing up for a new course.

Lisa Hilliard and Joy Hersey-Todd, of the Wedding Planning College, are taking bookings for advisory courses to be held at Chesterfield’s Casa Hotel, off Lockoford Lane.

Businesswoman Lisa, of Lisa Hilliard Wedding Planning, in Chesterfield, said: “There were no specific practical wedding planning courses when I started my business and I went into it somewhat blind.

“General courses helped with the business side of things and an on-line course taught me an overview of the wedding planning industry, but no one actually taught me what I really need to know and that’s where Joy and I want to help.”

The courses will provide advice with training events, personal mentoring and long term business support and its graduates will be encouraged to become part of an on-going network that aims to bring best practice to their businesses.

Lisa and businesswoman Joy Hersey Todd, of Unique Wedding Planning, in Sheffield, will mentor students on their way to becoming wedding planners.

The two-day Train to Plan weekend training events include fact-based learning, exercises, group activities and guest speakers from the industry.

The first events will be held during October 1 and 2 and November 5 and 6 with offers for the first 16 bookings. Those interested can visit the website www.theweddingplanningcollege.co.uk.
