Tax return deadline

There are a few days left for Dales residents to get their self assessment tax returns in to HM Revenue and Customs.

The deadline for 2011/12 tax return is January 31 and those who send it in late will receive a £100 penalty.

Small businesses that have to complete a return have the chance to participate in a HMRC interactive webinars on ‘How to complete your Self Assessment return online’ on January 30 between 8am and 9am.

To register for this, visit www.hmrc.gov.uk/webinars/live.htm. The end of January is the deadline for paying any tax you owe for the 2011-12 tax year. More information on completing a tax return is available by visiting www.hmrc.gov.uk/sa or calling 0845 9000 444.
