An award-winning ice cream-making firm has scooped a top honour for the fourth time.
Smith’s Creamland Ices, on High Street, Clay Cross, won the Ice Cream Alliance’s Best Vanilla Ice Cream in the UK 2013 title after the Alliance hosted a prestigious prize ceremony in Harrogate.
Tina Manfredi, of Smith’s Creamland Ices, said: “We retained our Ice Cream Alliance title for making the best vanilla ice cream in the UK and we’ve now won this award more times than anyone else in this competition.”
The family business has been running for over 60 years and owner Domenico Manfredi also received a special ICA award for his outstanding commitment.
Lorraine Manfredi said: “Our success is partly down to our secret ingredients and the way we make our ice cream but I couldn’t possibly share those with anyone!”
The family’s proud proprietors include Domenico and Louise Manfredi who run the company with their daughters Tina, Janet and Lorraine.
The company supplies many shops and businesses in Derbyshire with its famous, high quality ice creams and has also won the Bakewell Show’s Gold Award for the best ice cream for two years running.
