DELIGHTED staff at Chesterfield’s newest hotel have been celebrating this month after clinching a top four-star rating and a prestigious award for its food.

The Casa Hotel, on Lockoford Lane, Whittington Moor, near the town centre, underwent an undercover AA inspection that confirmed its four-star hotel rating with a high merit score of 81per cent and it also joined a select group of hotels to be honoured for their quality food with an AA Rosette.

Owner Steve Perez said: “To discover Casa is the only four-star hotel in Derbyshire to achieve an AA merit score of over 80per cent is a great achievement and an excellent reward for all the staff who have worked extremely hard over the last five months to ensure Casa is a success.

“We had very high expectations to deliver the finest quality of service and to achieve such a high percentage rating is a fantastic result.

“The rating was also achieved following a mystery visit which highlights how the team at Casa delivers the same quality of service each and every day.”

The inspection results included an 81per cent merit score confirming the hotel’s four-star status and its Cocina restaurant was awarded the AA Rosette.

Casa is already regarded as the highest ranking hotel in Derbyshire on the world’s largest travel website TripAdvisor with reviews describing the venue as “amazing”, “excellent”, “beyond expectations” and “outstanding”.

It boasts 100 luxury bedrooms, including six suites, eleven meeting rooms, a banqueting suite, a gym, a selection of bars, private garden with wedding pavilion, a civil ceremony licence and free car parking.

The cosmopolitan £20m hotel development which was launched last year also includes a management team from France, America and Spain.

Mr Perez added: “We don’t intend to rest on our laurels following the inspection and we will instead build on these results to provide a first class hotel for business and leisure visitors.”
