DESIGNER labels have been brought to Derbyshire for the first time with a unique new store.
From couture off the catwalk, to quirky jewellery, Blanc aims to be a one-off shopping destination with something for all tastes, ages and purses.
The boutique – a French nod to its owner Anne-Marie White’s surname – had a “buzzing” launch in the 131 Chatsworth Road development last month and is the first Derbyshire stockist of many top labels usually found only in London or overseas.
“People say it is refreshing there is a place bringing in new labels that haven’t been seen anywhere in Derbyshire before,” said mum-of-two Anne-Marie (36), of Holymoorside.
“I’ve got ten years fashion retail experience and used to manage high street stores, I’ve always wanted to have my own.
“Some people might say I’m a bit mad to start up in this financial climate but I feel there is a demand for nice, different, clothes.”
Four part-time jobs have been created at Blanc. Anne-Marie’s favourite pieces include those by Lola Espeleta, cotton linen in white with a colour highlight and fine details.
The most expensive piece at £899 is by Cabotine Privee, a Spanish label seen on the runway and worn by stars including Cheryl Cole. Elsewhere feature award-winning luxury Italian bags by Brown and Berry and vintage inspired jewellery by And Mary (necklace £18).
Added Anne-Marie: “I’m not buying in mass, it’s six pieces, so when they’re gone they’re gone, and I move on to something else.”
A percentage of the launch takings have been given to the Gold Digger Appeal cancer campaign.
