CHESTERFIELD storekeeper Maggie Butler is celebrating picking up a major national award for her work.

Maggie, who runs her own United Carpets and Beds store, on Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, has been voted Franchisee of the Year by United Carpets Group.

The group has more than 60 flooring and beds stores across the UK, and the result was announced at the company’s annual conference by United Carpets chief executive Paul Eyre.

He said: “Maggie is a well-deserving winner of this hotly-contested award and the prize reflects her dedication, hard work, commitment and efficiency.

“United Carpets is renowned for our excellent customer service and great deals and Maggie’s store in Chesterfield reflects everything that we’re about.”

Maggie comes from Chesterfield and lives in Dronfield and took over the franchise in 2009 after a managerial career with McDonalds.

She said: “I’d always wanted to run my own store, and thought this was a great opportunity and an excellent company.

“I think people appreciate the fact that although we have the buying power of a big company behind us, which keeps our prices down, we’re very much a local business.

“I’ve got two staff, and we provide a really friendly service that customers like.”

Maggie is currently stocking her store with the new Spring ranges and some special offers and says she’s delighted to have won the award.

She added: “On the awards night I was thrilled but really surprised to win because there are so many brilliant franchisees at United Carpets.

“The award is also shared with my staff – and I’d also like to thank our customers, who show us such a lot of support.”
