IT IS said one of the best ways to boost economic growth and employment is through building projects.

Jobs are created as part of home building. Barratt Homes estimates roughly two jobs are maintained for every house built.

The Spires development on Derby Road, Chesterfield, launched its first phase in 2005. It has been popular among homebuyers. Our success in Chesterfield encouraged us to seek opportunities in the area and resulted in us acquiring the Saltergate stadium site.

Developments will provide 521 homes in Chesterfield with about a thousand jobs. We use local sub-contractors and have employed new apprentices. Residents move into these homes spend wages locally and increases the need for retailers.

We have been working closely with The Derbyshire chamber of commerce to regenerate the town centre. In conjunction with the Chesterfield Champions Scheme and Chesterfield Borough Council we have supported bids to the European Union to secure funding.

Barratt Homes is providing investment into new Gateway landmarks at Hornbridge Island and other gateways. The Spires and Saltergate developments are to be completed in 2014 and we will be looking to provide new homes. As a five star homebuilder we’re looking forward to working with the Chesterfield community for many years. Mark Wright, Managing Director, Barratt Homes.
