Students at Anthony Gell School are celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results.
90% of students have obtained five or more A*-C grades at GCSE, the school’s highest level ever.
64% of students gained at least five higher grades including English and maths.
Headteacher David Baker said that he was really pleased with the results.
He added: “Our students have done very well this year and I am extremely proud of what they have achieved.
“We have been working very hard with each student to ensure that they meet their target grades so that they have the widest range of choice for their future”.
Mr Baker added that he was very grateful to all the staff at school who had worked with the students, particularly at a time when so much is changing in how GCSEs are taught and assessed.
Many of Anthony Gell’s students are returning to the sixth form to study A-levels with others going to college or into apprenticeships and employment.
Mr Baker said “I want to congratulate all of our students and thank their parents for all of their support.
“I am delighted that all students are completing year 11 with qualifications, with the vast majority gaining high grades.
“It’s a real pleasure to see students who enter the school with a wide range of abilities fulfilling their potential and ready for the next phase of their education.”
