BRAMPTON: Living History Group hears talk on Wingfield Manor

Brampton Living History Group held its second meeting of the new session at St Thomas’ Church Parish Centre with an attendance of 33.

The chairman, John Lilley, welcomed everybody and drew attention to the new programme for 2013, which was now available. Forthcoming events include the Chesterfield and District Local History Society meeting on March 19, at Rose Hill United Refromed Church, where Sonia Preece will give a talk on “Social Life in the 1600s from wills and inventories”.

The chairman welcomed the speaker, Clive Holliday, former teacher and now working as a guide for English Heritage, who gave a talk on “Wingfield Manor”. A vote of thanks was given by Godfrey Holmes.

The next meeting is on March 25, when Michael McGwyre will give a talk on “Hasland Theatre Company”. Admission is £1.50.
