BRAMPTON: Britannia Bowling Club win first six matches in league

Britannia Bowling Club have made a magnificent start to their campaign in the Chesterfield & Nottinghamshire Floodlit League Division 1, winning their opening six matches.

The opening game saw a 31 shot away win v Staveley King George. Craig Galley led the way 21-6 and winning cards also came from Paul Milburn, Dave Thropp, Steve Beddoe, Steve Hardy and Ian James.

Next up was a 64 shot home win against Mosborough MW, Craig Galley 21-6 was the best winner joined by Steve Beddoe, Steve Hardy, Jamie Hardy, Matt Singlehurst, Paul Milburn and Ian James.

Game three saw a 76 shot home victory against Poolsbrook SWC with Steve Beddoe winning 21-4. Further wins came from Jamie Hardy, Steve Hardy, Keith Wheatcroft, Craig Galley, Gary Marshall and Paul Milburn.

Oxcroft MW visited the Britannia for game four and it was the home side who prevailed by 44 shots with Jamie Hardy leading the way 21-2. Dave Thropp, Craig Galley, Steve Beddoe and Ian James were the other winners.

Game five saw an excellent 2 shot away win against last season’s champions Eastwood Park. Steve Beddoe won 21-6 and other wins came from Jamie Hardy, Matt Singlehurst and Dave Sutton.

Game six saw a comprehensive 78 shot victory against Bolsover Colliery to leave the Britannia unbeaten at the halfway stage of the season. Dave Sutton top scored with 21-4 and other winners were Ian James, Andrew Spragg, Gary Marshall, Steve Beddoe, Jamie Hardy, Matt Singlehurst & Steve Hardy.

On October 6, as part of the Chatsworth Road Festival, Britannia beat their local rivals Terminus by 98 points to 91 in an entertaining festival bowls challenge. Six pairs represented each side, carefully selected to ensure players from all standards could participate, and Britannia just made home advantage count to take the trophy with four winning cards from Clive Davies/Gil Alvey, Keith Wheatcroft/Gordon Moore, Steve Hardy/Barry Smith and Steve Beddoe/Jamie Hardy. Terminus will host the event in 2014.
