In glorious sunshine on Sunday, the boys and girls from the 2nd Chesterfield Boys’ Brigade with parents, friends and other members of the public took the opportunity to paddle canoes and kayaks on the Chesterfield Canal in aid of Guide Dogs UK. This was the climax of their fund-raising for the charity.
Instructors from Ichthus Canoe Club Chesterfield encouraged and assisted the boys and girls paddling between Tapton and Wheeldon Mill locks. Many of the youngsters who took part had greatly improved their skill following training sessions with the Canoe Club at Walton Dam.
The group is hoping to raise £500 before the end of the session. The total so far is approximately £400 with more still to come in.
