The winners of last year’s Best in Bloom back garden (over 80 sq m) are busy preparing for their Open Garden Day on Sunday, July 21, as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS).

Members of the public are invited to come and enjoy this delightful garden at Byways, 7A Brookfield Avenue, Brookside.

This will be the second year the owners have opened the garden to the public and are hoping to raise money for the NGS charities and also Ashgate Hospice.

As well as looking round the garden refreshments will be available to enjoy at one of the five seating areas around the garden.

This rear garden has been developed over the last five years and now has well stocked, colourful perennial borders featuring many plant varieties including helenium, monardas, phlox, grasses. There is a large collection of acers, a rock garden, alpine garden and many planters containing hostas, ferns, roses, fuchsias and geraniums.
