Bolsover Parish Rooms committee members have celebrated the community centre’s 100th anniversary.

Alison Parente of the Portland family, of Welbeck Abbey, unveiled a commemorative montage of the Rooms’ history after the Duke of Portland had originally provided the land for the centre to be built a century ago.

Committee member Sue Coulton said: “Mrs Parente was thrilled to bits to be able to tell her family that the Rooms are as much a part of the community today as they were all those years ago.”

Limestone Journeys helped fund the montage at the Rooms, on Hornscroft Road, and in recent years the committee has used grants to renovate the centre.

The Rooms are enjoyed by many community groups including a WI and scouts.
