BOLSOVER: Mothers Union members discover history of Derbyshire maps

Have your say

Mary Revill, the chairman of the Parish Church of St Mary and St Laurence Mothers Union, welcomed the Rev J. Dickinson to the June meeting held in the Parish Rooms, where he gave a most interesting talk on the maps of Derbyshire.

The county has been mapped from the 16th Century. Members were able to explore the historic maps and find out about their development and production. They had fun finding local features, places and changes in spellings over the years. Mrs Margaret Adin gave the vote of thanks.

The next MU meeting will a lunchtime outing on July 1, 2013, to visit Barlow Gardens.

All are welcome to join the group.

The annual Deanery Mothers Union summer service and strawberry tea will be held at the Parish Church of St Mary Mary Magdalene, Creswell at 2pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2013.
