BOLSOVER: Mothers Union hear a talk on Arkwright family

Mrs Gill Oldfield (deputy) chaired the Mothers Union meeting held on Monday, May 13, in the Bolsover Parish Rooms.

She introduced Mr Darrell Clark from the Arkwright Society, who gave an interesting and informative talk about the impact of the Arkwright family, especially the ‘Father of the Industrial Revolution’, Sir Richard Arkwright on the industrial development of Derbyshire and United Kingdom. The award of Arkwright Scholarships to today’s young, budding engineers, ensures Richard’s influence continues into the 21st century.

Bolsover Mothers Union’s next meeting will be held on Monday, June 3, when the RevJ. Dickinson will be sharing his explorations of the maps of Derbyshire with members.

New members are always welcome. For further information, contact Mrs Mary Revill on 01246 824017.
