A much-loved and respected Bolsover councillor has died after suffering with cancer.
Labour Party member Thomas Rodda, 82, of Bolsover, served as a Bolsover District Councillor and Old Bolsover Town Councillor for many years.
Town councillor Bernard Haigh said: “Thomas always had strong local concerns and the best interests of people. We got along very well and shared the same views about how the council could work to help people. He was a very experienced man and knew what life was like in the town.”
The former miner and NUM member was secretary of Bolsover Darts and Dominoes and the Bolsover Homing Society pigeon clubs. He died on Monday, October 20. He leaves a widow Lorna, son Neil, daughters Alison and Joanne. A funeral is due from 11.30am, Thursday, October 30, at Bolsover Parish Church, followed by burial at Oxcroft Lane Cemetery.
