THIS year sees the launch of a new council-backed jogging group in Bolsover town – the Bolsover Bounders.
This group is the latest to join the growing number of Jog Derbyshire groups across the county and its first session will start on Tuesday, February 26.
This weekly group will be led by local qualified jog leader Charlotte Lange and will meet at 7pm in the Bolsover CO-OP car park, opposite the library.
Places do not have to be pre booked. People can just turn up on the evening with friends, work colleagues or family members.
Bolsover District Council Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion, Councillor Ann Syrett said: “Jogging is a great way to keep fit and also provides an ideal opportunity to meet and make new friends. Now that the lighter nights are coming and as spring approaches what better time to get out and about and explore the many trails and open spaces the District enjoys.”
The cost of participating in one of the sessions is just £1 and the sessions are aimed at individuals new to jogging or those who may not have run for a long time.
And in the South of the District the South Normanton Fun Runners will shortly be re-launching and have changed the groups name to the Forest Gump Joggers. Sessions will start on March 12, at 6pm, and joggers are asked to assemble in the car park at Frederick Gent School.
