On Saturday 13th April 2013 members of the Bolsover Civic Society enjoyed afternoon tea at the Castle Lane home of the secretary, Bernard Haigh and his wife Jeanette, who with her team of helpers prepared tea with homemade cakes and sandwiches for members while they explored photos and ‘bits of history’ from the Society’s collection of archive material.

Anne Joyce won the prize of a framed photo from the collection, in the ‘Know Your Bolsover Competition’.

The next meeting of the Civic Society will be held on Monday, May 6, at the 200 year old Ringwood Hall, former home of industrialist George Barrow (Barrow Hill) and Charles Markham of the Staveley Coal and Iron Company. The meeting will include a meal at a cost of £10. Tickets available at Page’s Decorators, Cotton Street, Bolsover.
