BUXTON resident Austin Furniss celebrated a very special milestone this week - his 100th birthday.
The centenarian, who has lived in the town all his life, marked the big occasion on Tuesday with a family party.
Mr Furniss, who lives at the Argyle Residential Home on Broadwalk, spent all of his working life as a gardener, a job which suited his love of the outdoors well.
A keen Buxton FC supporter who used to regularly attend the matches, he also enjoys music, particularly country and western.
And good genes clearly run in the family as his mother lived to 99 and his sister reached 102.
