A CLOWNE man who wrongly claimed over £7,100 in benefits whilst he was working has been successfully prosecuted by Bolsover District Council.
Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard last Tuesday how Andrew Millard, 44, of Chapel Close, pleaded guilty to failing to declare he was in employment while he claimed housing and council tax benefits.
Millard received over £7,100 in benefits, according to the council, from August, 2009, to November, 2010, to which he was not entitled.
He was sentenced to a 12 month community order with a requirement to undertake 70 hours of unpaid work and was also ordered to repay the over-claimed benefits, pay £100 legal costs and complete a five day education and training programme.
