BARLOW: WI members turn sleuths for murder-mystery event

Murder was committed at the Barlow WI meeting. Don’t fret though for it was only the opening to the branch’s murder mystery evening.

Janet Siddall had put a tremendous amount of work into ensuring that the evening went with a swing. The village hall was transformed into a WI fete with side stalls where those attending tried their hand at winning prizes as well as playing detectives to ascertain who had killed the victim (Joy Layton). It was a hard task to determine the murderer but two of Barlow’s best sleuths figured it out; both Rita Smith and Hazel Martin named the culprit (Margaret Bailey).

This year, Barlow WI has decided to support a charity directly linked to the village and this will be the local Scouts and Guides.

Bariow WI meets every second Thursday of the month at 7pm in the Village Hall.

At the meeting on July 8, the guest speaker will be Keith Arrowsmith whose topic is A local artist entertains. He will display his art work and answer questions.
