The euphoria of Bakewell Cricket Club’s first victory of the season in Division 2 of the Yorkshire and Derbyshire League, was somewhat marred when two sightscreens were found in the river Wye the following morning. This was far from the first time the club has been the victim of mindless vandalism at the Recreation Ground.
However, nothing could take away totally the joy of a close fought victory against Western Park in a match sponsored by Barobi Solutions. The visitors struggled to a total of 111 against tight bowling from the whole Bakewell attack with Paul Fearn leading the way with 5-31. In response Bakewell made hard work of securing the 25 points, losing eight wickets along the way. Matt Baker-Pearce, Paul Fearn and Richard Reed all scored valuable 20’s
The win was especially welcome following as it did a 10 wicket defeat against Sheffield Civil Service the previous Saturday, Bakewell’s final total of 119 featu
