On Wednesday, April 3, twelve Rotarians from Bakewell and five guests went to Derby on the Bakewell & Eyam Community Transport bus for a tour round Rolls-Royce Learning and Development Centre.
They were shown round by Derek Perry who is one of the volunteers at Aquabox, making water filters to give children and their parents clean drinking water and saving lives all over the world.
Derek and Arnold, both design engineers at Rolls-Royce, conducted the tour. The Rotarians and guests found it very interesting and informative to see the development of the engines from the first Frank Whittle jet. They also saw the Spitfire Merlin engine and the Harrier Jump Jet.
