BAKEWELL: RBL Women’s Section’s first fundraiser of year

Bakewell branch of the Royal British Legion Women’s Section held their first fundraiser of 2013 at the Town Hall on May 13. The event was organised by the branch standard bearer Mrs Lynne Pheasey.

Thanks were expressed to the following members: Mesdames E. Jackson, E. Elliott, D. Edwards, M. Kreuger, D. Howlett, P. Lunn, A. Dudley who gave up their time to help on various stalls. Thanks were also expressed to K. Daily and her daughter Y. Vickers, who always support the fundraising events by having a stall.

After the payment of expenses the sum of £174.35 was raised. This amount along with the other two fundraisers will form the backbone of Bakewell’s donation to the annual Purse Presentation in September at Belper.

The next monthly meeting will be held in the Town Hall on Tuesday, May 28, when the speaker will be Hilary Allwright on Victim Support. Visitors welcome to attend.

Anyone wishing to join the Women’s Section should contact the branch secretary on 01629 813925.
