BAKEWELL: Club for the Disabled hold AGM

Bakewell and District Club for the Disabled held their AGM at the Friends Meeting House, Chapel Row, where club president Judith Twigg, welcomed 30 members and helpers. She complimented everyone on a very successful year.

Officers elected for 2013/14 were as follows: club president, Mrs Judith Twigg; vice-president, Mr Albert Keir; chairman, Mrs S. Bramall; vice-chairman, Mrs D. Edwards; treasurer, Mrs D. Coxall; secretary, Mrs M. Godbehere and committee Mrs J. Roome.

The secretary, Mrs Godbehere, announced details of the planned outings. She said that Mr and Mrs Goodwin could not attend the meeting as they were celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary. It was unanimously decided that a celebration card be sent to the couple with the club’s best wishes.

Club meetings in the future would be held at the town hall.

Mrs Coxall presented the accounts which showed that the club’s finances were in a healthy state. She thanked Leonard Twigg for checking and approving the accounts and also thanked his wife for producing copies for the meeting.

Raffle winners were Milly Garratt, Joan Wain, Dennis Lomas, Bernard Goodwin, Brian Buxton-Smith, Brenda Hawley, Muriel Wilson, Mary Fearn and Ann Aldain.

An excellent tea of sandwiches, cakes, tea or coffee was prepared and served by willing officers and helpers.

Club president Mrs Judith Twigg thanked everyone for attending such a successful meeting.

The meeting concluded with a bingo session in which the caller was Mrs Godbehere and the lucky winners of lines included; Muriel Wilson and Peter Philps, Molly Briddon and Mary Fearn and the house winners included; Janet Roome, David Houlton and Charles Jones.
