A MAN was taken to hospital for finger stitches after been bit by a badger he was trying to “catch”.
Police say they received a call saying a man in his 20s had been bitten by a badger at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.
Officers spoke to the victim and he said he was in bushes on the park’s cricket field when the badger came towards him. He decided to try and catch it but it bit him on the finger instead.
Paramedics took the man to Chesterfield Royal Hospital for stitches and a tetanus jab.
A police spokesman said no offence had been committed at the incident, which happened at 12.20pm on Monday June 6 but has only just come to light.
