AULT HUCKNALL: Well-dressing donations make over £400 for good causes

The Three Villages Well Dressing Association has held its latest well dressing celebration, with dressings staged from July 20 to 28. The Ault Hucknall dressing depicted a walled garden, with Jean and Frank enjoying the fruits of the gardeners’ labour. More thought-provoking was the picture created by the Rowthorne dressers who depicted a lottery win as a possible version of the Holy Grail, whilst the children of the Brownies and Bramley Vale School reminded us all to ‘seize the day’ with their picture. It showed a tractor out in all weathers and warned us that ‘farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant’ (from the book of Ecclesiastes).

The week’s weather was very mixed but the dressings still brought pleasure to many hundreds of people, and almost £450 has been raised for local good causes.

Chair Marian West said that, despite the group being fairly small in numbers, the dressings this year were of a particularly high standard.

The dressings were blessed by the Rev Anbette Love, vicar of Heath, after the flower festival and well dressing service at Heath Church.
