Association riding high

Have your say

Mid-Derbyshire Riding for the Disabled Association celebrated its 40th anniversary with a social event at Lea Gardens, when over 100 volunteer workers, past and present turned up to the celebration.

The organisation was formed in 1971 by Mary Wiltshire, who is its current president. Totally reliant on fundraising and donations, helpers have raised the £9,000 needed to keep the organisation running year on year.

More than 50 people use the service, which is based at purpose built stables with both outdoor and indoor menage, and stables for the four horses belonging to the group.

The association is always looking for dedicated people to help the group’s work. Anyone interested in finding out more should contact Marie Davey on 07812 664861.
