SUPERMARKET chain Asda is creating new jobs with the opening of its first Chesterfield store.

Asda has transformed the former Netto store, on Sheffield Road, Whittington Moor, as part of a multi-million pound deal to purchase and convert many of the Scandanavian company’s UK branches.

It has promised to secure 17 jobs at the former Chesterfield Netto and aims to create nine more staff jobs at the store which re-opens as an Asda next Tuesday, November 8.

The store has undergone a £500,000 conversion as part of Asda’s plans to expand its supermarket division with units smaller than 25,000sq ft.

Netto said it wants to focus on its business interests elsewhere in Scandanavia and northern Europe.
