POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal car crash in Staveley.
At around11.30am last Friday, a blue Hyundai Tucson collided with a lamp post on the A619 Worksop Road, Staveley, near its junction with Norbriggs Road outside Woodthorpe Primary School.
The elderly male driver sustained serious head injuries in the collision and was taken to hospital in Chesterfield by ambulance. He was certified dead on arrival.
The road was closed until 2.40pm.
Road policing officers have begun an investigation into the causes of the collision and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened.
