Police are appealing for information after a number of vehicles were damaged over the past few weeks in Somercotes, Riddings and Ironville.

Officers have received nine reports since the start of December with the latest taking place sometime overnight between Tuesday, December 18, and Wednesday, December 19.

A Ford Focus parked on a driveway off Birchwood Lane in Somercotes was scratched.

Three cars on George Street and one on West Street in Riddings have also been scratched, and other vehicles have been damaged on High Street, Leabrooks Road and Lower Somercotes in Somercotes and on Market Place, Ironville.

PCSO Mark Rogers of the Somercotes and Riddings Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team has been making enquiries.

He said: “It is both costly and inconvenient for motorists to repair the damage caused to their vehicles and we would urge anyone with information about these incidents to contact us.

“The incidents have tended to have happened overnight or during the evening so we are also asking people in the area to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity they may see.”

Anyone with information should contact Derbyshire police on 101, the non-emergency number, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
