A WIDOW who jetted off to the bright lights of Hollywood to learn how to live healthily is battling the bulge to get an A-list body.
Mum-of-two Andrea Ryder, from Dronfield, was picked to take part in ITV show Lorraine’s bid to give three women a helping hand to lose weight.
Fed up with feeling overweight at 12st 4lbs, she flew to LA at the beginning of December for a crash-course in nutrition, exercise and sessions with a psychologist under the mentorship of newly-svelte star Kelly Osbourne.
There was no danger of Andrea, 38, being starstruck meeting Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy’s famous daughter, as the professional singer was already acquainted with her mum Sharon after making it to the final 12 in her category of the X Factor in 2007.
The professional singer entered as a tribute to her late husband Mark, who collapsed and died from an unknown heart condition six years ago.
Kelly gave the trio tips on how she shed the pounds after appearing on US Strictly equivalent Dancing With the Stars.
During her trip, Andrea was filmed for Lorraine and Daybreak and given food and fitness plans.
She has had four weeks to implement the new regime, enduring the ultimate test of willpower when celebrating Christmas, ahead of a series of live TV weigh-ins.
She said: “Kelly was lovely. She never stopped chatting to us off camera and making sure we were comfortable. Dieting over Christmas was quite difficult but you could substitute a lot of things. I had turkey, sweet potatoes and plenty of green vegetables.
“The diet we were given tries to spread food out to six meals a day.
“The hardest thing over Christmas was finding the time to exercise.”
Her children Declan, nine and Isobel, six, have kept her motivated since the Hollywood Diet began.
